Attention:
DiskDeleter will permanently delete all of the data in your hard drive, and deleted data cannot be recovered by any data recovery software products.
Once you start DiskDeleter, please do not change your disk configuration, as the DiskDeleter wizard automatically boots from the disk.
DiskDeleter can support any disks that the system BIOS can detect. If the system BIOS cannot detect the devices such as USB disks, DiskDeleter cannot detect the devices.
If you are using a notebook computer, please make sure to connect the AC adapter. The delete process may take a long time and the battery may not last until completion.

General
1.
Doesn't emptying the Recycle Bin delete my data?
Just emptying the Recycle Bin does not delete data. Emptying the Recycle Bin only adds information to the file index to flag the file as "deleted" and make the file invisible.
2.
Does formatting my disk erase my data?
Unfortunately even formatting the disk can not delete disk data, either.
3.
How can I protect my data?
To delete data permanently, you need to overwrite your data. DiskDeleter supports 6 delete methods including the method of the US Department of Defense to destruct data permanently.
4.
How does DiskDeleter work?
You can run DiskDeleter while Windows is running. Just click DiskDeleter; the installation wizard will guide you to delete the disks. After installation complete, DiskDeleter will restart your computer to run DiskDeleter wizard. You can then choose disks, Delete Method, and ReFormat or Report option. After delete process complete, you can confirm the result of deletion in the operation summary.
5.
What kind of devices does DiskDeleter support?
DiskDeleter can support any disks that system BIOS can detect mainly IDE, SATA, SCSI and also most of USB. If the system BIOS cannot detect the devices such as USB disks, DiskDeleter cannot detect the devices.
6.
Which delete method should I select?
DiskDeleter has 6 delete methods, 1. Zero Write, 2. Random Write, 3. Random Random Zero, 4. DOD 5220.22-M, 5. NATO Standard, and 6. Peter Gutmann. They are listed in order of strength with the weakest one first, but also in order of speed with the fastest one first. Even Zero Write selected, deleted disk cannot be recovered by any data recovery software products. But unfortunately the data overwritten once or twice can be recovered by magnetization pattern analyzers such as Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM). In general, to erase data completely, it is recommended to overwrite data at least three times (more than level 3 Random Random Zero).
7.
What is the ReFormat option?
To be able to use disks immediately, DiskDeleter formats disks as FAT32 after delete completed.
8.
What is the Report option?
DiskDeleter can save its delete report on the deleted disk. It contains all the necessary information including snapshot of 48 byte data after the delete. Once you save a delete report, wherever you connect the disk, you can see the delete report after booting from the disk. For your information, since the Report option writes a delete report on a disk, it cannot coexist with ReFormat option.
9.
How long does it take to complete the delete process?
According to the test report in our lab, for example, It took 16:56 in the environment below. If you have better system, it will take much less.
CPU: AMD Sempron 2200+
Memory: 655,360K
Disk: Maxtor 39,186MB
Delete Method: Zero Write

Delete Time: 16:56

10.
Does DiskDeleter have another version?

Yes. DiskDeleter family has four products, DiskDeleter Download, DiskDeleter CD, DiskDeleter Floppy, and DiskDeleter ZW.
