After installing CryptShield, the shortcuts are created on Desktop and also in Windows Start menu. Please start this software from the shortcut and set up the
password for the first time. After that every time when User starts the system the software starts automatically.
Create Password Dialog
In the Create Password Dialog Box there are three fields :
Enter Password : Enter the password for CryptShield
Confirm Password : Enter the password again for confirmation
Hint : Give
a hint for the password
The software works in the background until User shuts down the system. When the software is running in
the background, the system tray shows the icon of CryptShield. By double clicking this icon on the system tray, User can view the main window
after entering the correct password.
The following screen appears when CryptShield starts or becomes active from background .
Each panel shows : (1) Menu bar, (2) Toolbar , (3)
Left Tree Panel and (4) Right
List
view.
The sections are described in detail below :
The Toolbar contains the following Tools :
Create : This creates a special encrypted drive (or file) on a non-removable disk, which is
called shielded volume.
Mount : This mounts the selected shielded drive into the free drive letter.
Mount
All : This mounts all saved shielded drives into the free drive letters.
Unmount :
This unmounts the selected mounted drive.
Unmount
All : This unmounts all mounted drives.
Reg Drive : This feature helps User to restrict the USB drive to access the system, if the “Allow only Removable Register drive” check box is enabled in the option menu.
Dyn Detect : Through this, User can make a removable disk secured. User can insert the disk to
another computer that does not have CryptShield installed. The system does an authentication check (password
mechanism). If authentication check is passed, the disk operates normally.
Different icons in the Left Tree indicate different types of drives.
Drive List
: Displays All drives and also CryptShield file and drive
Mounted Drive List : Displays All drives mounted by CryptShield
Shielded List : Displays all CryptShield files and drives
Registered Drive List : Displays All registered drives
Search : Displays result of Search operation
Once you click a folder in the Left Tree Panel, a list of files and drives are displayed in the list view on the right:
The following information are shown in the different columns in List View:

Drive List:
Once you click on Drive List on the Left Tree, a list of all drives including Shielded files and drives is displayed:

Mounted Drive List:
Once you click on Mounted Drive List on the Left Tree, a list of all drives mounted by CryptShield is displayed:

Shielded List:
Once you click on Shield Drive List on the Left Tree, a list of all CryptShield files and drives is displayed:

Search List:
Once you click on Search on Left Tree, List view displays list of all unsaved search files.

You can right click to mount the found file.

Registered Drive List:
Once you click on Register Drive List on the Left Tree, a list of registered drive information appears:

Following information are shown in the different columns:

Once you click Create button on toolbar or Shield->Create CryptShield Volume, following
screen appears.
There are two types of CryptShield volumes.

If you click Create Shielded Drive radio button and click Next, the Shielded Drive
screen appears.
If you click Create Shielded File radio button and click Next, Shielded File
screen appears.
2.1 Shielded Drive:
You can select an encrypted whole drive or a dynamically detected drive.
There are two options in Shielded Drive screen :
If you click Whole Drive radio button and click Next, Select Drive
screen appears.
If you click Dynamic Detection Drive radio button and click Next, Dyn Detection
screen appears.
2.2 Shielded File
This creates encrypted file of given size from specified drive.

In Shielded File screen, click the "Create..." button, select the path
to create the shielded file, and click Next, and then the
Parameter
screen will appear.
In this dialog box there is a list box, which contains all drives (except system drive). Select the drive which you want to create as a Shielded Drive and
click Next, it goes to the
Parameter
screen.
Dyn Detection
In Dynamic Detection dialog box screen, there is a list box, which contains all removable drives and
USB/1394 fixed drive.
Select the drive which you want to create Dynamically Detected Drive and click Next,
and then it will go to the
Dyn Detection Type Screen.

You can select to encrypt full size or maximum available size of the removable drive.
There are two options in Dynamic Detection Type screen :

size from a selected drive. If you select this option then existing data
will be deleted from the selected drive. |
After choosing the option, click Next and go to the Parameter
screen.
Parameter Screen
You can set up parameters for the volume.
There are three parameters required for Shielded volume :
Encryption Algorithm: Select an Encryption Algorithm
Size of volume: Give the size of the Shielded drive.
Format Type: Chose a format type from the below.
QuickNTFS and QuickFAT are faster.
FAT and NTFS are more secure.
For NTFS, formatting memory space must be greater than 30 MB.
AutoFormat does NTFS formatting or FAT formatting depending upon the memory size.
Click
Next and go to the Volume Password Screen.
Volume Password Screen
Enter the password for the Shielded drive . Click Next, then Confirmation Screen
appears.
NB- The password must be greater than 6 characters and valid characters are A-z,
a-z, and 0-9.
Confirmation Screen
Now click Start button to create the Shielded drive.
This operation will create a shielded drive and also mount it.
(Please note that this operation will delete all data in the selected volume.)

After this operation is complete, the below message box appears to confirm the
mounted drive.
Shielded Drives can be mounted by following ways:
3.1 Main Window Shielded List:
The list view shows shielded drive(s) or file(s) when view option is Drive List and Shielded List.
1. Select a Shielded drive and click Mount button on tool bar or Mount from Mount menu and the
CryptShield Password dialog box appears.
or
2. Right click on Shielded drive, the Mount context menu appears. Click Mount and the CryptShield Password dialog box appears.
This dialog box shows all saved shielded drive

Select
Drive... : Click this button to select a shielded drive
Select File... : Click this button to select shielded file
Target Drive: Select a drive where the shielded drive is to be mounted
Mount
All : Mount all volumes in the shielded drive list.
Mount : Mount the selected volume.
Close : Close the dialog box
CryptShield Password Dialog Box
When
you mount a shielded volume, password will be required.
There are three buttons in this dialog box
OK Click OK to continue the mount process
Skip Click Skip to skip this mount process and go to the next mount process
(This appears in Mount All operation)
Cancel Click Cancel to cancel the entire mount process
All shielded drives can be mounted by Mount All by the following ways:
1. Main Window
Click Mount All button on toolbar or Mount All from Mount menu or Click Ctrl+A
Shielded drive(s) can be Unmounted using the following :

5.1 Main Window Mounted Drive List
The list view shows the shielded drive(s) or file(s) when view option is Drive List and Mounted Drive List.
Select a drive and click Unmount button on tool bar or Unmount from Mount menu or CTRL+U
or
Right click on Shielded drive and a context menu appears. Click Unmount .
This list shows all mounted drives.
Unmount All : Unmount all drives in the
List
Unmount : Unmount the selected drive from the
list
Close : Close the dialog box
All shielded drives can be unmounted using the following:
1. Main Window
Click
Unmount All button on toolbar, Unmount All from Mount menu, or click Ctrl+B.
7. Create Dynamic Detection Drive
Click Dyn Detect button on toolbar or Dynamic Detection from Tool menu or Click Ctrl+D and the
Dynamic Detection Screen will appear.
In this screen, you can register the drive to be detected in the system.

Register : Select a drive from the list. Click Register for registering the drive.
Once you register the drive, only the registered drive can be detected in the
system and non-registered drive is not allowed to be detected in the system.
Close : Close the dialog box.
By selecting Options from Tool menu, you can adjust the following settings:

Mounted Drive Label |
This option is
for the label of the mounted drive. If you select Shielded label then
mounted drive label is CS-Mounted. If you select system label then mounted
drive label is Fixed or Removable. |

Shielded File |
This option is for the icon of the Shielded file. If you
select CryptShield Icon, the icon of the Shielded file will be CryptShield Icon
NB:
You have to restart the system to reflect the change of this option. |

Save
CryptShield Volume Information |
If this option is enabled, then when CryptShield drive is created, it will be saved in registry and will be shown in the Shielded List. |

Only Registered Drive is selected, then only the registered drives will be accessible from the system. |

Activity Log Information |
|
After copying important files into a shielded volume, it may be necessary to delete the original files to avoid the unwanted access. You can permanently remove the original files by simple right click operation of FileDeleter.
1. Locate the cursor on the file(s) or folder(s) you want to erase completely. Select "BluestSoft FileDeleter" from the right click menu.
2. Select Yes in the dialog of "This operation will permanently delete the selected files or folders. Are you sure to continue?"
* Please note that after deleting file(s) or folder(s) by BluestSoft FileDeleter, you cannot recover them by any data recovery software.
3. The selected file is being erased by Zero Write.
4. The file has been erased completely.
